Keeping You Live With News You Can Use

Notes From the Programmers:
As programmers we have an affinity for keeping Allegiance products at the leading end of our industry. You may have heard we are hard at work converting our products to Microsoft .NET framework. We see this upgrade as a huge advantage to our users in the near future and beyond. More details on that project are coming, but I highlight it here because many of the benefits gained from the .NET switch will be better maximized if stations are using Microsoft SQL Servers with their Allegiance systems.
Benefits of Using SQL
Speed
The biggest advantage of using SQL is it allows for quicker computation which leads to getting output sooner. Therefore, Allegiance reports and queries needed to make critical operational decisions are available much faster. And, users can have easy access to automatic, real-time information without manually refreshing the system.
Reliability
SQL is at the core of Microsoft database products. As one of the world’s largest software companies, Microsoft has made SQL Server the “gold standard”. And with hundreds of thousands of global users, Microsoft will not likely abandon this product. You can feel secure knowing your Allegiance systems are stored on a product heavily backed by Microsoft developers and support.
More Customized Queries
While the Allegiance systems offer straightforward and nearly endless query capabilities that don’t require on-staff IT, some Allegiance users may have highly-customized needs that require specialized queries. For example, one of our clients uses SQL functionality to segment out all donors with pledges awaiting verification (online and/or volunteer-entered pledges in the transaction bin) from e-solicitations during on-air pledge drives. So any donor that has already pledged during a specific drive, will not be solicited again during that drive, even if the pledge is still waiting to be verified by staff.
Getting Started with SQL
Allegiance can make the entire process of purchasing, installing and converting data to a SQL Server seamless and relatively pain-free. As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Allegiance is able to re-sell SQL Server. Once you have SQL, we can schedule your installation and conversion which takes about a day. Contact Ryan at 800-858-7654 for more information.
Tell Us What You Think
As always, Allegiance values the comments and suggestions we receive from our clients. All thoughts on how we can improve our software to help our stations’ staff do their jobs more efficiently and effectively are greatly appreciated. Please contact support at 877-858-7654 with your feedback.
