Our History
Our story begins in public broadcasting. More than 30 years ago, we were approached by a public broadcasting station seeking comprehensive fundraising software thought to be available only to the big shops.
Accepting the challenge for a solution, we, along with the station membership coordinator, worked diligently to develop a fully relational database management system. Allegiance was born. As public broadcasters learned of our sophisticated software, demand increased dramatically.
Today, as in the past, we carefully listen to our customers while following industry trends and best practices. It's our mission to exceed our customers' expectations and maintain their loyalty for a lifetime. We invite you to become part of our story.
Timelime
1977 - Dakota Computer Professionals (DCP) begins working on a fully-relational database management system for Prairie Public Broadcasting (PPB).
1978 - PPB goes live with the Allegiance Fundraising System.
1989 - Demand for more sophisticated fundraising software by public broadcasters prompts PPB and DCP to enter into a partnership to market Allegiance software nationally to PBS and NPR stations.
1992 - The DCP - PPB partnership is dissolved leaving DCP in full control of Allegiance.
1993 - DCP installs its first Volunteer Management System at KUSC-FM, Los Angeles.
1997 - DCP launches the Auction System and installs at WNIN, Evansville, IN.
1999 - Dakota Computer Professionals officially changes its corporate name to Allegiance Software, Inc. Allegiance installs its first Radio Traffic & Corporate Support System at KWMU-FM in St. Louis, MO.
2007 - Conversion to state-of-the-art .NET software technology begins.
2008 - Construction begins on the new Allegiance headquarters building.
