Development on the Allegiance software began in 1977 when Prairie Public Broadcasting (PPB) contracted with Dakota Computer Professionals (DCP) to begin work on a fully-relational database management system. DCP computer programmer Sonja Jensen and PPB Membership Coordinator, Lois O’Meara, collaborated on the development of the software from its inception. After nine months of research and development, PPB went live with the Allegiance Fundraising System in October of 1978. The continued collaborative software development efforts provided Prairie Public with state of the art software and sophisticated fundraising tools normally available only to large market stations.
Allegiance Software, Inc. has grown from two full-time to 20 full-time staff to accommodate continued growth and commitment to service. Currently, Allegiance Software, Inc. boasts 150 users in public and nonprofit broadcasting with a total of 232 Fundraising, Traffic, Volunteer and Auction systems installed.
